Watch this episode
We are now on the home stretch of this whole Wild Ride tour... Today Jerry talks about the Storm flip, which he pretends he can't do every try. He also has to make a tough decision about whether to enter the X-Games. At the end of the episode he says "yes" but in reality he never showed up to take his runs. Jerry keeps it real. Spoiler alert: Next week is Heath!

Post Heath tommorow, son.

Most skaters (well, those featured in that episode) seem to "go for it" when it comes to throwing your hat in the ring if the price is right. Patrick, do you know who are the most 'WTO '99' (to use a shitty Dov Charney phrase) politically conscious pro skaters out there? I guess the nature of the business is sponsorships = life so they wouldn't be as visible, but you'd think there'd be a bit more of a fuck off attitude for all the rebel imagery and wild ridin'. Note that I think Andrew comes off as a smart and thoughtful dude but I guess going balls out for so long and then trying to put the pieces back together makes it all about #1 in every aspect, good and bad. Big picture thinking really isn't much of a consideration.

Dola, what the fuck are you talking about? I mean, did you not see the Robstock episode? Or are you just being ignorant? And what the hell is a politically conscious skater? A skater that votes? God, your pointless rant has blown my mind!
Posted by: Cujpo | November 03, 2007 at 01:11 AM
Breathe, my baffled & defensive friend. 'Pointlessness' is very subjective. It has nothing to do with voting. Isn't the role of top skateboarders ultimately to sell products (sneakers, clothing, videos, televised events that in turn sell their own advertising space)? I was wondering if certain people make their discretions about who they will and won't lease themselves out to, based on ethics or politics or whatever you wish to call it, well known. Was it so hard to parse all that out from my first post? Your mind must get blown pretty often!
Robstock looked to be a bunch of friends skating and drinking and camping in the woods. Pretty awesome but it doesn't look much like a major career decision so how's that applicable? Yes things go on independently from the commercial end of skateboarding, but that's not at issue.

Oh. OK. Well then, there are a LOT of skaters that won't whore themselves out just to make a buck. Google search Ed Templeton for one example. There are many, many more. It's understandable one probably wouldn't know those names if one's familiarity with the scene is only as deep as the last X-games results list or MTV reality series.
Posted by: Cujpo | November 04, 2007 at 03:12 AM
I'm psyched on how understandable that is for you because education is power. See, the OGs and the outsiders *can* live in peace. Now I can fuck your sister and we can race suped up cars together. One!
Jk about fucking your sister Cuj, you know you're my boy.

I guess you never saw the Fast and the Furious. I watch it when neither the Dew Tour or Jackass is on. Did you know those guys hang out with skaters too? Oh no, I guess you wouldn't...

I'm shocked at what Heath Kirchart said: "I can never make a part like that..." I can't believe any skater would say they are limited like that. I know it's a business, but c'mon, effort goes a long way, it's not like any of these tricks are impossible. That's what they said about the impossible and here we are now. Push things forward please, stop being so stubborn to stay where you are. I always thought the best skateboarders were the ones who put forth the most effort, not the guys who were "naturally" talented, it's not like they didn't put effort into it.

All I'm saying is that how can you say that you can't do it if you haven't even tried in th first place.
