We just had a party in Copenhagen and it was ridiculous. Justice turned up out of the blue at 3AM and played a surprise DJ set. Then Shy Child came on stage and tore the roof off. We completely fell in love with them and asked them for an interview just so they'd talk to us for a little while. This is what we could drunkenly think of in fifteen seconds.
Vice: What were you like when you were kids?
Shy Child: Nate grew up in the woods like a hillbilly. Pete lived near Boston and went to Math Field Day.
Do you get requests?
Sometimes people yell out songs they want us to play, sometimes they yell, "More cowbell!" - like we've never heard of Will Ferrell.
If you could pick one band to open for you, in the entire history of the world, what band would that be?
Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band, perhaps.
So, what’s happening in Brooklyn nowadays?
It's effin' cold.
What would you take with you if your apartment was on fire?
Any other people who happen to be inside too.
Tell me your best tour story, please.
Since you asked so nicely, we'll tell you a good one. At the Trans Musicales Festival in France last December, Air France lost all of our gear the day of the show. We'd come all the way from New York and didn't know if we were going to get to play, but somehow all the gear landed on stage 10 minutes before we were due on. We scrambled it all together like pros and played a dope show.
What’s more important, to play a good show or get laid?
Both happen on the same night quite often.
* We're throwing another party with a slightly different line up in Stockholm this Friday (February 16). Go here for more info about tickets for that.
