
Nick had no clothes to wash, but he wanted to check the bulletin board. A notice said: “Flying to Brazil in July. Twin-engine Beechcraft. Three passengers wanted to split fuel and expenses.” He read a sign in Spanish about a Mamborama, then a flyer from Hunter College. Why not a Fisher College? Nick read the flyer, which was about a scholarly conference on masturbation. It would be attended by a bunch of jerkoffs. He took out his notebook and wrote:
Masturbation is the thief of lust.

Nick came to a store that specialized in products for single women. A big sign advertised a Twenty-Ninth Summer Sale, for women who would turn 30 sometime after Labor Day. Nick realized that he was also in his twenty-ninth summer and felt a little sad. But he was much better off than the women. Soon they would be offering rewards for eligible men. His friend Gatwick once complained, "They're either married or gay!"

One of our interns runs this flash story writing blog called
Friday Fiction. We'd call him a copy-cat, because that's the name of one of our
sometimes-dealies on this blog, but supposedly he's had it for a while. He's feeling like Lord Fancington these days since he just self-published a
novel, and he's been bugging us to run one of his stories so we're going to because it's Good Friday and you're supposed to be nice to people or something.
